NEA

The Center for Art and Public Life, in partnership with the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative, received a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Center was recognized as part of the NEA’s Art Works category which supports the creation and public engagement with art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts. The Center and CCA’s Design Division will hold a series of design workshops to research, test, and produce design proposals for a refined prenatal care toolkit. The toolkits will be used by doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners attending to pregnant women in life-threatening situations throughout California and other parts of the U.S.

The Center for Cultural Innovation

The Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), a nonprofit promoting financial independence for artists, awarded a multi-year grant to The Center for Art and Public Life! The Center will participate in CCI’s statewide effort, the “Creative Industries Incentive Network,” to spearhead new economic models expanding the creative industry. CCI recognized the innovative art and design funding platform provided by the Center’s IMPACT Social Entrepreneurship Awards program. The CCI grant will seed a new, experimental development fund to support CCA students’ projects that are entrepreneurial in ambition and have a positive social impact.

 

Gliffy Charitable Fund

Gliffy.com, a web-based diagram editor, granted the Center $7,750 for general support! Every quarter, Gliffy donates 5% of its proceeds to a Donor-Advised Fund managed by the San Francisco Foundation. The Center was nominated by a Gliffy employee for this award. The Center joins a list of notable organizations granted, including Meals on Wheels, The East Bay SPCA, CounterPULSE, and Larkin Street Youth Services.
