Institutional Partnerships

The Center for Art and Public Life is vitalized by partnerships with various organizations. Community partnerships, collaborations, and alliances are essential to our work.

Connecting campus and community, the Center provides support and opportunities to engage artists, writers, architects, and designers in public life. Faculty, students, and staff work with community members, to make a positive difference in the world.

Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE)
ACOE serves as an interface between 18 school districts and the California Department of Education. The Center is collaborating with ACOE on a variety of projects and serves on the Steering, Strategic Planning, and Art is Education Exhibitions Committees with art, education, parent, community, business, and philanthropic leaders. We are working together to provide quality art education opportunities for all K–12 students in the county.

Project Zero (PZ)
We are partnering with Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education on art education research and professional development projects.

We also are working with PZ to inform the development of our teacher education programs at CCA. We are utilizing PZ Teaching for Understanding, Dimensions of Understanding, and Studio Thinking frameworks and online tools in all our programs.

UC Berkeley - Art Education Initiative
CCA art education faculty participate as members of this collaborative group of teacher educators headed up by UC Berkeley. Our mission is to strengthen art education within teacher education programs throughout the region and to share successful models with others in the field. Participants include University of California, Berkeley; California State University, Hayward; St. Mary's College; Mills College; California State University, Humboldt; and California College of the Arts.
