In conjunction with Alameda County's Art Is Education month, this exhibition presents artwork by Bay Area youth and CCA students in the Center's Teaching Artist Program, with an interactive installation by performance and multimedia artist Jennifer Wofford and a photomontage of programs from 18 Bay Area public school districts.

Art Is Education is an annual month-long showcase of arts learning in Alameda County school districts.

The Center for Art and Public Life invites you to celebrate the launch of CrossConnections, a yearlong project focusing on issues in the Bay Area Iranian-American community. "of past and present" on view at Intersection for the Arts, is led by the center's visiting artist, Taraneh Hemami, and visiting scholar, Persis Karim.

CrossConnections will engage Iranian and Iranian-American artists and writers in an intergenerational, creative dialogue about issues of cultural identity, preservation, and representation in a transcultural and transnational context. Of Past and Present will be the first public presentation in a series of experimental collaborations exploring personal, political, and social concerns of the Bay Area Iranian-American community.

The Center for Art and Public Life invites you to the second public presentation of CrossConnections with visiting artist Taraneh Hemami and visiting scholar Persis Karim. Participating Iranian and Iranian-American artists offer a portrait of the Iranian-American experience in the United States.

rePresent is a work-in-progress exhibition, which delves into ideas developed through the CrossConnections project. The participants expand on their personal reflections from Of Past and Present held at Intersection for the Arts, and create collaborative and interactive pieces that focus on dialogue between and across artists and disciplines.

Artist, organizer, and creative director F. Noel Perry and the Center for Art and Public Life invite you to the first 100 Families Oakland exhibition. Led by professional artists, 25 families representing East Oakland participated in 10 weeks of workshops at the East Oakland Youth Development Center. This exhibition of their work represents the first 25 of 100 Oakland families to create individual, family, and community artwork. This summer the 100 Families project will continue in Chinatown.

100 Families Oakland: Fruitvale
Dia de Los Muertos exhibition

One hundred families from four Oakland neighborhoods (East Oakland, Chinatown, Fruitvale, and West Oakland) are participating in a yearlong project in which they partake in a 10-week art workshop to create paintings, drawings, and sculptures centered around themes and issues of importance to each family.

The Center for Art and Public Life at California College of the Arts sponsors this reception for Athena's Guise, a Youth Mentorship Studio course. The reception celebrates work created by CCA students in collaboration with middle and high school students in after-school programs in public schools throughout the Bay Area.
